Genoa, Nev. — One of the men accused of robbing the COD Casino last week fired his court-appointed attorney on Wednesday. Chase Henderson told East Fork Justice of the Peace Paul Gilbert he would hire his own attorney. Henderson and Andrew Toomey are facing 11 felony counts in connection with the 5 a.m. July 14 robbery.
A resolution notifying the Douglas County Debt Management Commission that the county plans to issue up to $43.3 million in bonds to build a judicial center goes before county commissioners today. Payments on the debt will come from 15 percent of liquor, tobacco, real property transfer, government services and basic and supplemental sales taxes.
The new operators of Minden Mill Distilling are seeking licenses for intoxicating liquor producers and packaged liquor with entertainment from the Douglas County Liquor Board today. A new place called Swing 395 is also before the liquor board for a retail liquor license a few doors down from Anytime Fitness in Gardnerville.
I expect state transportation officials to get an earful today during their report to county commissioners on Highway 50 restriping demonstration. That will have to wait until after the joint meeting with the audit committee starting 10 a.m. today.

The Main Street Third Thursday Wine Walk will take to Main Street 4:30-7:30 p.m. today. Seeing as it’s July, the theme is patriotic with red and white wines. I’m not sure what would qualify as blue wine.
The forecast calls for sunny skies and a high temperature of 96 degrees today. The wind will be out of the west at 5-10 mph this afternoon. Triple-digit temperatures are back in the forecast on Friday and Saturday.
