Today marks the beginning of National Pollinator Week, as proclaimed by Douglas County commissioners, though the first events kick off on Tuesday after the Juneteenth holiday.

 

Tuesday

A discussion of container gardening is 10 a.m. at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park, where Jessica Gardner, Ken Dressler, and Carol Sandmeier will share tips & tricks on putting together a container garden. 

All participants will have the opportunity to plant a container that will beautify the grounds of Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park.  

Suggested $5 program support.  All are welcome. 

Pollinator Movie “NATURE: The Hummingbird Effect” will show 6 p.m.  at Carson Valley United Methodist Church. Suggested $5 to support the program. All ages welcome. 

 

Wednesday

Douglas County Public Library – Minden Branch presents “NATURE: My Garden of a Thousand Bees” documentary at noon. Free and Open to the public

The University of Nevada, Reno Master Gardeners host a talk 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Herb Gardening at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park. Free and open to the public

 

Thursday

Pollinator Bingo at The River Fork Ranch in Genoa – 4-5:30 p.m. 

Come explore the River Fork Ranch in a game of pollinator Bingo. Free and open to all ages and stages. 

The River Fork Ranch Preserve presents Native Seeds in the West with Kevin Badik, at 6 p.m.  Suggested $10 donation. 

 

Friday

Bio Blitz at the Zephyr Cove branch from 10 a.m.-noon. 

Calling all citizen scientists, help us document all the bugs at Zephyr Cove. 

Bio Blitz at the River Fork Ranch Preserve from 3-5 p.m. to document all the bugs at River Fork Ranch Preserve.  

No experience necessary. iPads will be available for those who do not have a smart device for both events.
