Genoa, Nev. — If the number of vehicles waiting to get into the Corley Ranch on Saturday morning is any indication, the Basque Fry featuring Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was a big hit. With graduation, it was a busy weekend and we’re still sorting through material for Wednesday’s edition.


Since school let out last week, kids are going to be out and about around various locations, so watch out for them around places like the parks, swim center, movie theater and other attractions.


I didn’t hear the initial call, but a bear was hit and killed on Highway 395 at some point on Sunday. Watch out for the wildlife when you’re driving around. There’s tons of critters out there.


Local, state and federal offices are closed today for Nevada’s first official Juneteenth holiday. The banks and post offices will be shut down today as well.


A lake wind advisory is in effect through 8 p.m. today with southwest winds 15-30 mph gusting up to 50 mph, slowing down in the afternoon to 15-25 mph, gusting up to 40 mph. Might be a better day for kites than kayaks.


A dry cold front is rolling into Western Nevada bringing the wind and temperatures 5-10 degrees below average. Today’s high temperature is expected to hit 65 degrees with a low tonight forecast to be one whole degree above freezing in Minden.
