Author keynotes Christian writer's conference

Award-winning novelist Amanda Dykes of Minden will keynote the Cascade Christian Writers Conference, a three-day event this weekend that draws editors, agents, and writers from throughout the nation to the Canby Grove Christian Center.

Dykes, who said she spends most days “chasing wonder and words with her family,” is a former English teacher. Her debut novel, “Whose Waves These Are,” won the 2020 Christy Award Book of the Year, a Booklist 2019 Top Ten Romance debut, and an INSPY award. “Yours Is the Night,” which won the Kipp Award, and “Set the Stars Alight” were 2021 Christy Award finalists. Her other books include “All the Lost Places” and “Up from the Sea” as well as short stories “Bespoke: A Tiny Christmas Tale, Tin Can Serenade,” and novellas in The Kissing Tree Novella Collection and The Message in a Bottle Romance Collection.

Minden artist Sheri Greves-Neilson will be showing her art work at the 43rd annual Cheyenne Frontier Days Western Art Show and Sale July 20 to Aug. 13.

Greves-Neilson will be showing her four pencil drawings among 50 other influential figures in Western art.

According to her web site, Greves-Neilson has been a professional artist for more than 35 years. She has won many awards for her drawings and paintings. While her favorite medium is watercolor, she enjoys also working in pencil and oil. Her work has appeared on the cover of Western Horseman and in such magazines as Art of the West, American Artist, and Equus.
