Genoa, Nev. — Work on the engineering and plans to upgrade Douglas County’s emergency radio system started on Thursday with the approval of $414,000 for a contract.
Carson Valley Medical Center is changing its name to Carson Valley Health. Rebranding the Gardnerville hospital was the topic of a survey back before they broke ground on the improvements in October 2021.
The Douglas County Clerk-Treasurer has extended the deadline for property tax payments to 5 p.m. Monday due to offices being closed on March 10 and March 14. This extension will provide time for taxpayers to pay their payments without adding penalties or interest to those payments. Payments were due on Thursday.
It’s opening night for Carson Valley Community Theatre’s “Last Round-up of the Guacamole Queens,” at the CVIC Hall. Tickets are on sale noon to 4 p.m. today for any of the four shows scheduled for this weekend, including matinees on Saturday and Sunday. If you miss this weekend, they’ll be back next weekend.
Concerns about access for elderly residents off China Spring Road were alleviated when the county came and cleared out the culverts there on Thursday. There’s a lot of work out there as a result of last weekend’s storm.
Thank goodness Tuesday’s forecast didn’t come to fruition. Lots of people have been working for a week straight just trying to catch up with last weekend.
Carson Valley will start donning the green this St. Patrick’s Day as the snow melts off from the fields. But because it’s Western Nevada, there’s a chance of snow to accompany the arrival of spring.
Today and Saturday are going to be mostly sunny with the high of 48 today forecast to climb to 54 on Saturday in front of the weather, which should arrive on Sunday.
