Genoa, Nev. — A month after it first closed, the California Department of Transportation will start escorting travelers today on Highway 395 from Lee Vining to State Route 167 north of Mono Lake. Escorts will be available 7-8:30 a.m. and 3:30-5 p.m. each day.

Highway 208 through Wilson Canyon will be closed 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday as the Nevada Department of Transportation repaves it after the Jan. 10 rockslide closed the main route between Smith and Mason valleys.

Highway 89 between Carson River Resort and the junction of Highway 4 will be closed indefinitely, according to CalTrans due to a mudslide over the highway. Both Monitor and Ebbetts Pass are closed for the season and given the snow totals, probably won’t open until the second half of May.

The last weekend of “The Last Round-up of the Guacamole Queens” opens 7:30 p.m. tonight at the CVIC Hall. There are two shows on Saturday and one on Sunday. The matinees are close to sold out, but there’re lots of seats left for the evening shows. Go to carsonvalleycommunitytheatre.org for showtimes and tickets.

Next week’s storm is the topic of a statement issued by the National Weather Service. We’ll see some chilly weather over the weekend with the high temperature hitting around 40 degrees under mostly sunny skies. The west wind will pick up at 5-15 mph this afternoon.
