Genoa — Douglas County commissioners begin their budget slog 10 a.m. today at the Douglas County Courthouse, 1616 Eighth St., in Minden. They don’t usually take the whole four days, but there’s a lot to get through.


Members of the Library Board of Trustees are meeting in the Fortnightly Room in the CVIC Hall in Minden, also at 10 a.m. today. There’s going to be the usual budget talk and discussion of reclassifying a supervisor to assistant director.


Night-time road work is scheduled to start 9 p.m. today on Highway 395 between 6thStreet and Lucerne in Minden. Work is expected to continue until 5:30 a.m. through early Thursday morning.


Alpine County’s phones in Markleeville have been out for a while, now. I got a notification on Monday, and haven’t seen anything to indicate their back. If you need to contact them, use emails for the departments. I got word just before noon that their phones were back.


The R-C’s office phones are back in operation, so you might actually get a person when you call during working hours … maybe. Please leave a message if you don’t.


A wind advisory has been issued for 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today as another storm rolls in. Fredericksburg resident Jeff Garvin said he’s already seen a 37 mph gust. We could see some 50 mph gusts during the day, with some power outages. Save often.


At 44 degrees at dawn, we’re only 5 degrees off the forecast high temperature. Rain isn’t predicted to arrive until after 2 p.m., with the snow level at 5,400 feet. It’s going to be blustery, but that’s sort of a given.
