The 85th annual Nevada Junior Livestock Show started Thursday at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center.

The show will continue until Sunday and is where young Douglas County agriculturalists get to show off animal husbandry skills in the state competition.

One of the warm-ups for the Reno show was April 1 at the 5th annual Battleborn Jackpot show at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.

“The Battleborn Jackpot show supports local youth, including 4-H, FFA, Grange and independent livestock exhibitors,” organizers said. “This year we had 72 youth exhibitors attending and they brought over 125 sheep and goats. Over $4,200 was paid out to exhibitors.”

Jackpot show organizers thanked The Walter Family, Bently Ranch, Jodie Waas MA MFT, FIG Financial Insurance Group, AW Bundt Appraisal, Good Equipment, Arrowhead Dental Care, JT Basque Bar & Dining, The Lawrence Family, and Great Basin Equine.
