Genoa, Nev. — A report of a motorcyclist separated from his group sent Douglas County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue into the Pine Nuts off Out R Way on Wednesday. The call came in around 4:45 p.m. Searchers deployed a drone and were in contact with Washoe County’s Raven helicopter. Searchers resumed their hunt this morning.

At one point there were 70 NV Energy customers without power in Douglas County, including 27 in Minden and 41 at Lake Tahoe. The Tahoe outages coincided with a report of a garbage truck on fire around 11 a.m. Wednesday. I don’t know if they were related, but be careful with what you put in the trash.

Suicide Prevention Network hosts Frank Jacobelli 5:30-7 p.m. today who will speak about “Your Brain…Stress…and How to Cope” at the Partnership Douglas County office, 1625 Highway 88, Suite 104, in Minden.

Historian David Woodruff will be presenting a slideshow on the TV show “Bonanza” 6:30 p.m. at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center in Gardnerville. Doors open at 6 p.m. and costs $5 unless you’re a member of the Douglas County Historical Society.

I took a ride down to the Fairgrounds on Wednesday and there are definitely wildflowers popping up among the piñons. I expect we’ll see a substantial bloom on our side of the Pine Nuts soon. The eastern slope of the range is already popping.

Not much to talk about on the weather front today, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 71 degrees. The breeze will pick up out of the west at 5 mph.
