Genoa, Nev. — A Topaz Ranch Estates property up for tax sale is being sought by the general improvement district at today’s Douglas County commissioners meeting. The site at 3870 Granite Way has been held in trust by the county for a while and the district would like it for office or shop space.


Commissioners will also discuss the final budget for the county, the towns and other funds today. Commissioners meet at 10 a.m. in the historic Douglas County Courthouse 1616 Eighth St. More information is available at www.douglascountynv.gov


A flood watch takes effect 8 p.m. tonight through 8 p.m. Monday. High water closed Mottsville Lane on Wednesday, and there’s no reason to expect it to suddenly abate today.


A homeowner on Kerry Lane down by Carson Valley Golf Course reported water was flooding under the house on Wednesday as the Carson River makes its presence felt across the Valley.


The East Fork crested at 13.29 feet at 3:10 a.m. today. There’s about a 4-inch gap between the actual and forecast levels. The forecast crest is at 14.4 feet 5 a.m. Monday.


The West Fork at Woodfords crested at 13.89 feet early this morning, well into the minor flood stage. It’s forecast to hit 14.2 feet 11 p.m. Sunday.


The first third Thursday Wine Walk is 4:30-7:30 p.m. today in beautiful downtown Gardnerville. You can sign up at Gardnerville Station or Big Daddy’s Bike and Brew.


Today’s forecast is for mostly sunny skies and a high temperature near 84 degrees, with the wind out of the west at 5-10 mph. There’s a chance of thunderstorms in the forecast starting Friday afternoon.
