The Western Nevada Cattlewomen announced Grace Tekanskik and Aspen Wright have been awarded the Western Nevada Cattlewomen High School Recipients for 2022.
These scholarships recognize outstanding academic achievements, leadership, and involvement in the agriculture community.
Grace Tekanskik and Aspen Wright were chosen and will receive a $2,500 scholarship.
Grace Tekanskik is a freshman at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Okla., who graduated from Douglas High School in 2022. Tekanskik is majoring in agriculture education. She plans to become an agricultural teacher in a classroom or a boardroom.
Aspen Wright is a current freshman at the University of Nevada Reno, who graduated from Smith Valley High School in Wellington.
Wright is majoring in rangeland ecology and management with a minor in accounting. She plans to return to the family ranch Hunewill Ranch in Bridgeport.
Western Nevada CattleWomen is one of the oldest women's organizations in the state of Nevada founded in 1956. Membership comprises women who are interested in the education and promotion of beef and are the best examples of volunteerism covering Alpine, Douglas, Carson, Washoe, Story, Lyon, and Mono counties.
CattleWomen will be conducting their annual fundraiser dinner and dance 5-11:30 p.m. Saturday at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.
