Genoa, Nev. — With all the stuff heaped on county commissioners’ plate, you’d think it was closer to Thanksgiving. Heading up today’s 10 a.m. meeting is an 80-home subdivision on 80 acres between Saratoga Springs and the North Valley Wastewater Treatment Plant.

That first reading will be followed by deciding on how to manage the airport, whether to fund microtransit at Stateline, figuring out the new courthouse, combining Douglas County’s townships and wrapping up with the vacation home rental code.

Commissioners meet at the historic Douglas County Courthouse in Minden. You can follow the action at www.douglascountynv.gov and click on agendas or “Watch Board Meetings.”

Minden Town Board members voted 3-2 to continue collecting trash cans in the alleyways of old town. The alleys are part of the original town design, lifelong resident and former Town Board member Bruce Jacobsen said on Wednesday night.

A glitch with posting the agenda to the state website resulted in Genoans having to postpone their meeting until next Wednesday. All the stuff that was on the agenda will be back next week, I bet.

There’s a waitlist for David Woodruff’s lecture about George Whittell on Saturday. There were only 20 seats. The link was cut off in Wednesday’s edition and is actually www.exploretock.com/minden-mill-distillery/event/private/0903221d-8f7f-423c-8016-68cc47c00a1a

The odds of rain on Saturday were halved, showing that even in Western Nevada’s forecast, if you wait a bit, it will change. Today should see mostly sunny skies with a high of 72 degrees and the wind 5-10 mph this afternoon.
