The Leadership Douglas County Class of 2023 is hosting a commemorative reception to unveil its class project and pay homage to the county’s agricultural roots.
The public is invited to attend the unveiling of a custom table — the Leadership Douglas County Class of 2023’s class project — 4-6 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, 1477 Main St., Gardnerville.
Light refreshments including beer and wine will be served, and the community is invited to share in the unveiling of this monumental project that will act as a legacy to Douglas County for time immemorial. The event is free and open to the public.
“It’s truly amazing to see the great things that can happen when so many community leaders come together to work on a project,” said Project Manager Michelle Valdovinos. “This table wouldn’t be possible without input and effort from each and every Leadership Douglas County Class of 2023 class member, and I’m excited to see it all come together.”
The custom table is the result of hundreds of collective hours of planning, fundraising, woodworking, and laboring, resulting in a one-of-a-kind wood and steel table that will reside inside of the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center.
The woodworking and metalworking portions of the project were led by local artists Tahoe Reclaimed and Reclaimed NV. Most of the resources for the project were donated, including the majority of raw materials and labor.
“I’m honored to have been a part of building such a cool tribute to Douglas County,” said Joel Dunn of Reclaimed NV. “This table is truly a work of art, and I’m excited to see it on display for our community.”
The Leadership Class thanked Raley’s, Shoe Tree Brewing Company, Grocery Outlet, Tahoe Reclaimed, and Reclaimed NV for their support.
