Four area athletes earned Class 5A North all-region volleyball honors for their play this season.

Carson High put three on the all-region teams while Douglas High added one.

Picking up first team honors.

For the second season in a row, Carson High’s Sarah Miller received first team recognition for her play on the hardwood.

Miller ended her senior campaign with 259 kills, which was the second most in the North behind Bishop Manogue’s Sydney Flint (291).

In her final season with the Senators, Miller also led the team in blocks (56) and was third on the squad in aces (49).

Second team selections

The final three area players, who earned a spot on the all-region squad, were on the second team.

Carson senior Dayna Myrehn was a second team all-region selection as was sophomore Abigail Franco.

Myrehn, who missed the last part of Carson’s season, still led the team in aces with 75.

The outgoing senior was third on the team with 207 kills, while picking up 151 digs and recording 13 blocks.

Franco finished the 2023 campaign just behind Miller in kills, tallying 246.

Her defensive prowess (193 digs), serving ability (43 aces) and serve-receive technique made her a staple in the rotation.

It was first appearance on the all-region teams for both Senators.

Douglas High volleyball capped its season with one all-region selection in libero Sumer Williams.

Williams, who missed the final portion of the season due to injury, recorded 393 digs in 78 sets played, leading the Tigers.

The junior was Douglas’ best server as well, plating 68 aces.
