Genoa, Nev. — On Monday, scores of red shirts from We Deserve a Better Board marched down Main Street in Gardnerville as motorists honked their support. At 4 p.m. today, school board trustees are scheduled to discuss a contract with the interim superintendent and a search for a new superintendent.

Resolution of employee negotiations with the various associations are on the school board consent calendar. The school board meets at the Douglas High School Media Center in Minden.

Planning commissioners will discuss a permit to expand Under the Magic Pine Tree. The owners plan to essentially double the size of the day care that has served the Valley for nearly a half century.

A flood awareness event is 3-5:30 p.m. today at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center in Gardnerville. At 11 a.m. Wednesday, there will be a ceremony recognizing the high water mark at the River Fork Ranch in Genoa.

No one opted for an ambulance ride on Monday from a 5:25 p.m. two-vehicle collision at Highway 395 and Stephanie Way. With sunset at 4:45 p.m., commuters are making their way home in the dark, which doesn’t particularly contribute to safe driving.

It was surprisingly windy on Monday morning with Minden-Tahoe Airport’s automated weather system recording three 28 mph gusts in a row just before lunch.

Today’s forecast calls for increasingly cloudy skies with a high of 62 degrees and the south wind 5-10 mph later in the morning. The low tonight is expected to hit 28 degrees in Minden.
