Genoa, Nev. — Trenching operations along Main Street and County Road resulted in a vehicle driving into the ditch around lunchtime on Monday. No injuries were reported but a tow truck was required.

The county’s classification and compensation study is at the top of the agenda for today’s Gardnerville Town Board meeting. The issues with Arbor Gardens sidewalks are also up today. Gardnerville meets 4:30 p.m. today at the town office, 1407 Main St.

A report on the impact of a petition to ban vacation home rentals in residential neighborhoods is scheduled to go before the Douglas County Parks & Recreation Advisory Board 6 p.m. today at the Community & Senior Center in Gardnerville.

Recreation advisors will also be discussing the update to the 20-year-old trails plan that isn’t quite as comprehensive as it was back when it was approved in 2003.

This week is forecast to warm up to around 80 degrees by Saturday without a hint of a freeze. Last year we made it to Oct. 22 before the first frost. That’s a long way off.

For today, the high is expected to climb to around 70 degrees with the wind picking up out of the north at 5-10 mph this afternoon.
