Genoa, Nev. — Congratulations are in order for Michael K. Johnson, who was appointed the new Tahoe Township Justice of the Peace literally moments before Judge Richard Glasson retired at noon Thursday.

Commissioners voted to approve the Monte Vista project without the requirement parking be prohibited along the street. If Minden finds there’s an issue, they can come back with an ordinance.

The discussion of a report on the effect a petition will have on vacation home rentals will wait until the meeting at Lake Tahoe on Oct. 19.

Commissioners declined to take over the Topaz Ranch Estates General Improvement District but may be required to appoint a fifth member at their first meeting in November, if the district fails to do so, next week.

Former R-C Publisher Tim Huether and wife Marie were the guests of honor at a dinner at Woodetts on Thursday night featuring the R-C staff from the mid-90s. Tim was key to bringing Best of Carson Valley, Trick or Treat Safety Street and the Parade of Lights to the Valley during his tenure.

The Best of Carson Valley magazine will be included in Saturday’s edition. Expect The R-C to be closed over lunch today as we attend the luncheon.

No one opted for an ambulance ride as a result of a collision at Riverview and Highway 395 around 9:10 a.m. Thursday. That intersection is a mess.

It’s expected to warm up into the lower 80s this weekend before cooler weather returns next week. Today expect sunny skies with a high temperature near 78 and the wind calm picking up out of the north at 5 mph in the afternoon.
