Genoa, Nev. — What could be the sequel to Friday’s drama with the Douglas County School Board is at Whittell High School 4 p.m. Whittell Boosters are asking Tahoe parents to turn out wearing the red shirts they purchased, not in opposition to the board, but because red is the school color.
Planning commissioners are scheduled to hear an 80-unit subdivision on 80 acres next to the north Valley neighborhood of Saratoga Springs. Planning commissioners meet 1 p.m. at the Douglas County Courthouse in Minden.
Douglas County is in escrow on a 19-acre lot to build a detention pond in the Pine Nut Creek drainage at Fish Springs and East Valley Road. Planning commissioners will discuss removing the conservation easement on the property that could prevent construction.
There are presidential primary elections for both parties on Feb. 6, 2024, with three Democrats and two Republicans filing as of Monday, according to the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office. None of the front runners appear on the ballot, so far, including both the former and current President.

The National Weather Service in Reno issued a freeze watch for Wednesday night through Thursday morning. Temperatures are anticipated to drop to 27 degrees in Minden early Thursday morning.
