‘Come on Tigers, let’s go party’ for Homecoming

Douglas High School’s Homecoming committee encourages fans far and wide to “Come on Tigers, let’s go party,” at Minden Park tonight as students, parents, families, and Douglas High School fans rally together during the annual Fall Fest.

“Weeks like this are important because it elevates school spirit and brings the entire community together,” said Homecoming nominee Davie Johnson.

Homecoming week kicks off with “Douglas the HoCo” as Barbie Dream House themed floats featuring the homecoming king and queen nominees as they ride down Esmeralda Avenue.

“I am definitely most excited about the parade,” said Homecoming King nominee Aiden Azevedo. “To be on the float and see everyone.”

Homecoming queen nominee Samantha Acosta is looking forward to everything coming together from the pep rally to the parade and game.

“I am excited to see the whole thing come together and play out,” she said.

During the Fall Fest, Douglas High School Hall of fame inductees will be announced including Class of 1969 Norie Neddenriep Jenkins and Class of 1995 Jeremy Litka.

The community is encouraged to attend, watch the parade and enjoy performances, clubs, food and drink vendors. A movie in the park featuring Hocus Pocus will be shown a dusk.

The Homecoming game is 7 p.m. Friday versus Wooster School, where the Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned and the Homecoming dance is Saturday.

“I’m excited for the game,” said Homecoming Queen Nominee Kaylee Briscoe. “Our team is doing well and it is a good way for everyone to have fun and show spirit.”
