A man who was transporting many different types of drugs and paraphernalia with his 7-year-old child in the vehicle faces up to nine years in prison.
Eric Charles Detrick, 49, was arrested Jan. 7, 2022, for a third offense possession of a controlled substance including heroin, LSD, fentanyl and methamphetamine, possession of credit cards without the card holder’s permission and child endangerment.
He was granted bail but was taken into custody on Aug. 31 for violating bail conditions. Sentencing is set for Nov. 27.
• A man who admitted to choking his girlfriend while she was breastfeeding their 1-year-old son faces up to six years in prison.
Cahner Steven Yews, 30, admitted to domestic violence by strangulation Monday.
According to court reports, Yews grabbed the woman by the throat while she was lying on the bed feeding their son. Their 2-year-old son was also present in the room. It was reported that Yews left the scene and was later pulled over by tribal police with a blood alcohol content of .114.
Yews has two prior felony convictions for which he served prison terms and two prior misdemeanors within the last 10 years involving possession of controlled substance.
Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 4 pending a pre-sentence investigation.
• A man, whose jaw was broken during an altercation over music a half-dozen years ago, testified at the sentencing of his assailant, Saul Aguilar, 26, on Monday.
The victim stated through a court translator that he has suffered many repercussions, of the incident which occurred May 18, 2017.
According to prosecutor Chelsea Mazza on Monday, Aguilar struck the victim in the face after a disagreement over music being played in a restaurant. The victim has since endured surgery of the jaw.
Aguilar admitted in August to the offense after he was brought in on a search warrant.
“I just want to apologize to the victim, I know it affected him and I just want to do right by him,” said Aguilar during Monday’s sentencing.
Aguilar received a suspended sentenced of 1-3 years in prison. He must pay restitution in the amount of $24,324.90.
