Around two-score volunteers gathered Saturday at Turtle Rock Park to plant 700 Jeffery pines on the Tamarack burn near there.
The Tamarack Fire dates from July 2021 with a lightning strike that exploded into devastating nearly 70,000 acres across Alpine and Douglas counties.
The volunteers were called to action by the combined forces of the Alpine Watershed Group, the Sugar Pine Foundation, the Alpine Trails Association and the U.S. Forest Service.
The Watershed Group was recently recognized for its efforts in replanting.
