The Carson Valley Women’s Golf Club held their annual Think Pink themed tournament on Oct. 17 in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
It was their last tournament of the season, and more than 43 members headed out to play a four-person scramble with a shotgun start at the Carson Valley Golf Course. That day, they featured several ideas to support the Think Pink theme including the ladies playing a pink ball throughout the 18-holes of play, encouraging the ladies to dress in pink, players receiving a goodie bag containing pink ball markers, pink tees, and a pink pencil, and each one receiving a Breast Cancer Awareness shopping bag.
The club also made the decision to donate all their 50/50 raffle proceeds to the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center’s Cosmetics Room for cancer patients.
The Cosmetics Room has several bra and breast prostheses, and they have a vast selection of wigs and hats. They help patients see how it is possible to go back to their pre-cancer lifestyle during and after treatment.
The women did not hold back on purchasing tickets, and they raised $500 to support this very worthwhile cause.
Congratulations are in order for the four winning scramble teams: the first-place team included Clarice Lommori, Julie Marraccini, Mary Milligan, and Sherrie Thorne. The second-place team consisted of Dianne ford, Lorna Johnston, Mary Stephans, and Donna Sugden. Coming in third place was the team of Michele Cline, Debi Lang, Louise Sparks, and Margie Stephens. And, finally, the fourth-place team included Sara Cleary, Claudia Meyer, Vickie Oland, and Vickie Rutledge. The closest to the pin winners were Julie Marraccini (Hole No. 1) and Debbie Steele (Hole No. 18).
