Genoa, Nev. — Drift smoke from the Wolf Creek Fire prompted a call to firefighters last night as air conditions dropped into the moderate range, with a sensor in Minden spiking at 9 p.m. with a reading of 130, which is unhealthy for sensitive groups.
Nevadafireinfo.org revised the acreage of the fire down to 35. Satellite mapping indicates the fire is larger than that, but at that small a size it’s hard to get a good read. It doesn’t appear to be spreading very quickly. Containment also dropped to 25 percent from the 40 percent reported on Wednesday.

When Soar Truckee President Karol Hines asked me the last time I’d been to the Reno Air Races, I had to admit it had been 30 years. Back then, I would take this week off in September and go to the air races. As an avid assembler of model aircraft, my teenage self had a blast.
