Douglas County School District said in a statement that it was not renewing the contract of Douglas High baseball coach Ryan Gonzalez.

“In line with our standard practice of year-to-year coaching contracts and annual reviews of our athletic programs, Douglas High School made the decision not to renew Coach Gonzalez's coaching contract as the varsity baseball head coach. In addition, Mr. Gonzalez has submitted his resignation as a teacher from the Douglas County School District. It is essential to note that Mr. Gonzalez’ resignation does not preclude him from being eligible for rehire within the Douglas County School District,” said Douglas County School District Superintendent Keith Lewis.

“The Douglas County School District greatly appreciates Coach Gonzalez's contributions during his tenure, and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

The job opening has been posted online on the school district’s website.

In his four years in charge of the Tigers, Douglas went 43-43 overall.
