Genoa, Nev. — Workers will be closing off a few hundred feet of one lane of Highway 395 between First Street and Waterloo Lane to conduct sidewalk, curb, gutter and drainage work starting today.
While the closures are expected to be short, anything that gets in the way of downtown traffic tends to create backups through Gardnerville.
A man who admitted tying to carjack a woman in Gardnerville on May 30 is scheduled to be sentenced today. Derek Melendez faces up to 36 years in prison with the deadly weapon enhancement. He is also facing federal prosecution in the shooting death of Eric Wyatt Jr. in Dresslerville.
Power went out at 6:45 p.m. Sunday for around 90 minutes. The cause was listed as an animal coming into contact with the lines.
