Two years after a major marijuana grow raid in the Pine Nuts behind Bodie Flat, the case is still active, according to a spokeswoman for the Drug Enforcement Administration.

A long line of law enforcement vehicles drove up Courtland Avenue on the morning of Sept. 20, 2021.

Two search warrants were served by local, state and federal agencies as a result of a lengthy investigation.

The early morning raid resulted in 80 people being detained and two arrests, one for an immigration violation and another for possession of a controlled substance other than marijuana.

Estimates of the street value of the nearly 62 tons of marijuana that was seized was in the millions of dollars.

The land on which 160 hoop houses were set up was Washoe Tribal Allotment land and was leased by co-owner Courtland Snooks to the operators of the grow.

Snooks claims it was a hemp farm, but law enforcement said they found 16,000 marijuana plants on the 22-acre site.

Neighbors had been complaining about the grow and watching it expand for months before the raid.
