Genoa, Nev. — Good Governance Group members will conduct a Q&A with District 1 Commissioner Danny Tarkanian at noon and challenger Jim McKalip at 12:45 p.m. today at the COD Casino in Minden. Cost is $5.  The group meets noon Tuesdays and is open to the public. Information, 775-265-0267.

The annual meeting of the Garden Cemetery Association is 5 p.m. today at the Cooperative Extension Office, 1325 Waterloo Lane, across from Lampe Park. I’m sure their May 18 workday will be on the agenda.

Firefighters will be conducting burns south of Glenbrook this week, with smoke likely visible from Highway 50 and possibly visible from Carson Valley.

Bail will stand for a man arrested in Gardnerville on Saturday night accused of driving twice the speed limit through the construction zone, knocking over cones as he went and entering the oncoming lane of traffic, all while allegedly under the influence.

Not much to talk about on the weather front, with sunny skies and highs in the low 70s and lows around 40 forecast through Friday. After that it warms up some. The afternoon wind will be 5-10 mph out of the west.
