Genoa, Nev. — A light plume of smoke rises from a controlled burn off Taylor Creek that got a bit out of hand 3:20 p.m. Residents had a hose on it early and East Fork firefighters finished the job and were clear by 5 p.m.
I’ll admit the initial call had me running across the Valley. More than one resident remembered the 1996 Autumn Hills fire. The plume was very nearly gone by the time I was halfway up Mottsville Lane.
China Spring Youth Camp has a director in Jessica Stocking after county commissioners voted to support her selection on Thursday. Stocking is wrapping up her position with Western Nevada Regional Youth Center in Silver Springs.
