Genoa, Nev. — The search for a new East Fork Fire Chief begins today with a proposal to form a committee that will be discussed by the fire district’s board of directors 10 a.m. today. Chief Tod Carlini plans to retire by the end of the year.


The transfer of $1.2 million in reserves from the Highway 50 realignment project to the Muller Lane Parkway and Justice Center projects will be discussed by Regional Transportation Commissioners 10 a.m. today.


The RTC is also discussing awarding a $4.97 million bid for the northern portion of Muller Lane Parkway to Qualcon Contractors. The $6.6 million southern portion from Buckeye to Ashland Park was awarded in April.


There might be a couple of options to building Drayton Boulevard, county commissioners learned on Thursday, but those would depend on the willingness by developers to agree to them. Meanwhile, three development agreements for connected projects remain on the books.


Commissioners approved 5-0 a 25-unit subdivision north of Stephanie Way west of Johnson Lane Park and the volunteer fire department. Pretty much all the infrastructure is installed, already.


A six-unit subdivision that was divided by serial parcel map on the south end of Plymouth in Indian Hills that expired received a new approval on Thursday.


The wind did a pretty good job of clearing out most of the smoke, though there is still the faint odor. Western Nevada’s air quality sensors at fire.airnow.gov are all reading in the good to moderate range.


We might see some showers 2-5 p.m. today with thunderstorms as evening arrives. The chance of thunderstorms increases around 11 a.m. Saturday. Today’s high temperature is forecast to be 96 degrees with southwest winds 5-10 mph this afternoon.
