The Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada is wrangling a fundraising event for the Wray Family Clubhouse in November.

As a night of cocktails in a semi-formal Western theme, Wranglers & Whisky is scheduled for 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Nov. 1 at Minden Mill Distilling.

Similar to the Luau, held by the Carson City Clubhouse, the proceeds from the event help maintain upkeeping, club programs, and future projects for the club.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada Events Manager Kaitlyn Pannucci said though similar in purpose, the Wrangler and Whisky fundraiser’s focus is for people to come together, mingle and have fun while supporting the club.

“It’s the first of its kind,” said Pannucci. “The Luau really focuses on the silent auction, this (Wranglers & Whisky) is more intimate.”

The Wray Family Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada will be the first standalone club and will include Minden’s first Smart Start Center, a new daycare and preschool program for ages 9 months to 5 years old.

The club is named after the Wray family to pay homage to Lois Wray, who donated the building at 990 Ironwood Drive in April.

The clubhouse will serve a capacity of 350 kids from infants to teens, as well as opening up to 25 new staff positions.

The clubhouse will include a library, a learning center, game room, a STEM center to encourage math, science, and engineering activities, and a teen center dedicated to 13-18 year with culinary activities, outdoor games, and other programs exclusively for teens.

“We are looking forward to the event and for people to come together, learn more about the club and support it too,” said Pannucci.

The clubhouse anticipates a fall opening. Visit www.bgcwn.org for more information.
