Genoa, Nev. — A pursuit of a pickup driver through Dresslerville ended in the 4:15 p.m. arrest of a man who was supposed to be in court on Wednesday afternoon. He was treated and released before being booked into Douglas County Jail.

Hot August Nights organizers decided to skip visiting Minden as part of the annual Poker Run months before Friday’s viral confrontation in Virginia City. You’ll have to go to Reno if you want to see the cars this year.

Pole vault poles manufactured in Minden are at the Olympics. UCS Spirit has been making the poles for 37 years and moved to Minden from Carson City in 2017.

A new fire burning eight miles northeast of Placerville may bring smoke to Carson Valley tonight. The Crozier Fire maps out at around 3,000 acres this morning on the Fire Information Resources Management site, though officially it’s around 800 acres.

The Park Fire continues to burn toward Lassen Volcanic National Park adding another 10,000 acres overnight. That we haven’t seen more smoke from it has been kind of surprising.

Fire.airnow.gov shows most of the sensors in Carson Valley are reading in the mid-good range, but just north of us Carson City is up to moderate. Tahoe City is reading unhealthy at 160 and climbing this morning.

The forecast calls for sunny skies and a high temperature near 95 degrees with the west wind 10-15 mph this afternoon. We may see some haze between 11 p.m. and midnight tonight.
