A candidate for Douglas County commissioner was taken into custody on Tuesday during a hearing seeking to require him to take medication.
Jason Garrett Gibson, who filed for office as a Democrat back in March, was remanded into the custody of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office after the Tahoe Township Justice Court hearing.
He is scheduled to return to court on Aug. 27, according to jail records.
Prosecutor Chelsea Mazza said that Gibson has refused to schedule an appointment with Lakes Crossing Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services. A petition to have him involuntarily medicated is before the court. Defense attorney Mary Brown aske for time to respond to the petition and for an evidentiary hearing.
