Genoa, Nev. — There are still some cones reducing Highway 395 to the three inside lanes between Waterloo Lane and Gilman Avenue this morning as school starts. But Main Street from Gilman north is clear and smooth and open as buses prepare to pick up passengers for the first day of school.


Douglas County deputies are out watching the school zones this morning, so obey the 15 mph speed zones throughout the county or you might get a ticket.

Update: Mosquito fogging was completed this morning at Topaz Lake Campground and Mosquito Abatement District is still waiting on the test results on a trap there from the Department of Agriculture, according to Krista Jenkins.

If you’re planning to head up into Alpine County this week, road work has one way traffic at Highway 88 and the bridge over the West Fork 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. this week. Silver Creek Bridge on Highway 4 is also at one lane.


I got a sample of a peppermint patty on Friday as volunteers work to produce treats for the annual Candy Dance. It was excellent. I’ll catch up to preparations for the fair here pretty quick.


Today is forecast to be as warm as it’s going to get this week with a high of 88 degrees under sunny skies. Anticipate southwest winds at 10-15 mph this afternoon, gusting to 25 mph.
