Genoa, Nev. — A fire weather watch has been issued for 2-10 p.m. Thursday for gusty winds and low humidity. If it’s upgraded to a red flag warning that would likely happen this afternoon.


Sierra Nevada Construction workers were taking up cones on Highway 395 north of Gilman Avenue this morning around dawn. Main Street between Gilman and Waterloo Lane was still down to the middle three lanes, and not all of those either.


The light at 395 and Gilman is continuing to only allow one direction at a time as near as I could tell. I’ve heard from other folks, too, about it.


I expect that the identity of the person killed in Monday morning’s plane crash at Minden-Tahoe Airport will be released today at some point.


The planning commission hearing on the South Shore Area Plan including Barton’s proposal to build a new hospital at Stateline has been postponed until Oct. 8. The meeting was scheduled for Aug. 28.

The Debt Management Commission meets 9 a.m. today at the Douglas County Courthouse to discuss the percentage of total ad valorem tax levy applicable to any debt issuance to trigger an analysis. State law says it has to be higher than 70 percent and it’s typically 90 percent.


Today expect sunny skies and a high near 85 degrees with the wind out of the west at 10-15 mph this afternoon. On the other end of Thursday’s front, the high temperature is expected to drop to 69 degrees and bring a chance of showers.
