Genoa, Nev. — The interior of the Minden Branch of the Douglas County Public Library is getting a new coat of paint. Library trustees will discuss possibly closing the branch on Sept. 6 to let the painters do their work.

Trustees will discuss goals for Librarian Tim DeGhelder for next year and perhaps set a date for the presentation of the library’s five-year plan at their meeting 10 a.m. today at the Zephyr Cove branch, 233 Warrior Way.

A perimeter fence is in the works at Douglas High School. The poles are up, and Principal Mike Rechs said the fence should be up pretty soon.

Deputies were tracking a man in the Gardnerville Ranchos on Monday afternoon. They caught up to him near the bowling alley around 3 p.m. I’ll follow up today to determine if it’s anything reportable.

A deer that was hit by a vehicle on Jacks Valley Road near Cherokee had to be dispatched by a deputy on Monday evening. It’s been rough on the wildlife on the roads lately. A bobcat was killed on Sunday morning and another fawn north of Genoa was hit a couple of days ago. Let’s try to be careful on the roads.

It’s going to be another warm sunny day today, with the high temperature forecast to hit 90 degrees and the wind out of the west at 5-10 mph. Tonight’s low will drop to around 50 degrees.
