The weather held for Saturday’s Discovery Day at Minden-Tahoe Airport.

“Despite the wind and cooler temperatures, we had approximately 1,000 people in attendance,” Airport Manager Heather MacDonnell. “We’ve received a lot of really great feedback from those who attended, the pancake breakfast and kids’ corner were a hit with families.”

MacDonnell thanked Legacy Airbase for the five dream flights for local veterans and the Sports Aviation Foundation for donating the fuel.

“Speaking to some of the veterans this will be a lifetime memory that I’m sure will be treasured,” MacDonnell said. “None of this would’ve been possible without the efforts of local sponsors, our amazing local pilots, joint efforts with multiple county departments and volunteers.”

MacDonnell thanked the sponsors and performers, including Carson Valley Health, Carson Valley Inn, Carson Valley Visitors Authority, Out West Catering, Model Dairy, Blind Dog Coffee, Millennium Day Spa, Douglas Dukes, Mark Leseberg, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Nevada Air National Guard, Color Guard, U. S. Coast Guard, Skydive Lake Tahoe, Master Sgt. Jimmy Petrolia, Nevada Division of Forestry,, the Humboldt Toiyabe National Forest and all those who attended.

“I’m so happy Douglas County and the Minden-Tahoe Airport were able to provide this great free community event,” she said.
