A reported three-vehicle collision near the top of Kingsbury Grade snarled traffic for around an hour Friday over the main route between Lake Tahoe and Carson Valley.

The collision was reported at 3:16 p.m. at the intersection with Buchanan Road.

Tahoe-Douglas medics, who have a station just below the location, and Douglas deputies responded to the collision.

While no one opted for an ambulance ride, getting tow trucks to the scene was a challenge.

Just as that collision was clearing, East Fork firefighters responded to a rear-end collision between a truck and an SUV between Topsy Lane and Jacks Valley Road at 4:45 p.m. There was no report of injuries.

The usual evening commute was swollen with Labor Day holiday travelers as the long weekend began.

AAA is forecasting a 9 percent increase in domestic travel with lower gas prices than Labor Day 2023.
