Genoa, Nev. — It’s possible that the no parking signs along Highway 50 will be extended north of the Tahoe Douglas Senior Center. That and a variety of other Tahoe centric topics go before the Douglas County Parks & Recreation Advisory Board 6 p.m. today at Kahle Community Center in Stateline.

On Sunday, a score of people turned out to decorate the Memory Tree in the Genoa Cemetery including Marian Vasser with her new pacemaker installed. Krissie Haliwell put the lights up on the tree last week.

Marian said she plans to sing at the newly formed Tahoe Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the CVIC Hall. This is a different outfit from the Tahoe Symphony.

This week a variety of groups are gathering donations for this Friday’s Share Your Christmas food drive sponsored by Channel 2. Douglas Disposal will be picking up donations along with the trash this week. The Genoa Volunteer Fire Department also has a barrel out.

The Coldwell Banker Select moving van is serving as Santa’s Sleigh this holiday season and is the drop-off location for toys, food, and warm clothes. The sleigh is decorated and located in the Coldwell Banker Real Estate mall parking lot at 1624 Highway 395.

Carson Valley Lions are selling See’s Candy at their trailer parked in the Frontier Communications lot. They’ll be selling candy every day until Christmas Eve or until it runs out.

After a solid week of high temperatures in the mid-50s, a chilly north wind is in the forecast today with the high temperature expected to top out at 42 degrees with the wind 5-10 mph this afternoon.
