There’s still time to donate to Project Santa Claus, organizer Alicia Main said on Thursday.
“To ensure we meet last-minute holiday needs, toy boxes will remain out until Dec. 20,” she said. “We invite you to contribute and help us spread even more holiday cheer.”
Founded in 1988, the Project has provided gifts to thousands of Carson Valley children over the years.
Enrollment for the program is conducted by the Family Support Council and the Carson Valley Community Food Closet and distribution occurs the week before Christmas.
“For decades, Project Santa Claus has been a cherished Carson Valley tradition, ensuring that local children and families experience the magic of the holiday season,” said Main, who is also executive director of the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce. “Thanks to the incredible support of our service clubs, businesses, and community, we’re proud to serve over 200 families this year. This heartwarming community effort continues to showcase the spirit of giving that defines Carson Valley.”
On Dec. 7, the Carson Valley Lions shopped for 30 children age 4 months to 13 years old for Project Santa, according to Ron Santi.
Main said the project is accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys, wrapping paper, tape, gift card boxes, unused bows, ribbons, and gift tags.
Donations may be dropped off at any toy box location or at the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce inside the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center.
“After the holidays, if you find yourself with unused wrapping supplies, we’d love to receive them to help prepare for next year’s efforts,” she said.
Main thanked the volunteers who help make Project Santa Claus possible.
“Your hard work and dedication are the driving force behind this annual tradition, and we couldn’t do it without you,” she said. “Together, we ensure that every child and family feel the joy and magic of the season. Thank you for being part of this amazing community effort. Together, we ensure that every child and family feel the joy and magic of the season.”
