Genoa, Nev. — As of 6:45 a.m., nvroads.com shows road controls have been implemented on Kingsbury Grade. A winter weather advisory is in effect for the Sierra through 4 p.m. today. 


Road controls are in effect for the Sierra passes and that could be true for the lower routes around Lake Tahoe as the morning progresses. If you’re going over the hill, be prepared for some travel issues.


We got a report from a resident that she received a text from Greater Nevada Credit Union that someone used her card for a $2,852 at Target. The Federal Trade Commission warns against clicking or replying to links in a text, and instead contacting the institution directly.


I pretty regularly get emails from folks using familiar names trying to get me to click on a link to see photos or to receive a fax. Of course, the email addresses have nothing I can tell to do with the person who sent it. If you’re sending in photos for Valley Views, attach them to the email.


The Wabuska fault near the Walker River’s northernmost curve is still sending out aftershocks this morning three days after Monday’s 5.8 earthquake. There were no reports of damage or injury from the temblor which was on the westernmost part of the Walker River Paiute Tribal lands.

It was 50 degrees at Minden-Tahoe Airport at 3:15 a.m. today. The temperature has been dropping since to 41 degrees at 6:05 a.m.


The forecast for Minden says snow’s likely 7-10 a.m. today. As warm as it is, the chance of anything sticking is pretty slim. The high temperature today is forecast to hit 45 degrees under partly sunny skies with the wind out of the south at 10-15 mph shifting west this afternoon.
