Genoa, Nev. — The Carson Valley Community Food Closet had a pretty good haul at Friday’s Share Your Christmas Drive-by Food Drive, with $84,736.07 in donations and 50,853 pounds of food.

The deadline to bid in the Douglas County Community Services Foundation’s auction is 5 p.m. Wednesday. Check out the items and maybe place a bid on something.

Project Santa Claus will continue accepting donations through this week. Look for the boxes out all over the place.

Roy Nisja’s Bear House in Chichester Estates is back for this Christmas, and he told me he’s got a new item that’s like nothing he’s seen here in Northern Nevada. The Bear House is celebrating its 45th Christmas this year.

Guy Sapp sent me a photo of Guy Le Fever’s display in Genoa Lakes. It’s getting bigger and bigger. I’ll be making my rounds of the holiday lights this week, so if you’ve got an address you like, and the resident’s amenable to visitors, send that into editor@recordcourier.com and we’ll put together a list for Saturday.

Next week we publish on Christmas Day and with a little help from the ghosts of Record-Courier’s past, present and future, we’re going to be delivering the paper.  I don’t know what the news is going to do, but I’ll try to keep it merry and bright.

It’s not even snowing on Kingsbury this morning as the National Weather Service delayed a winter weather advisory for the Sierra around Tahoe to 6-7 a.m. This storm doesn’t look like much, so

It’s really warm out with the thermometer at Walley’s reading 54 degrees this morning, and Minden-Tahoe Airport showing 37 degrees. The temperature is dropping, but the sun is rising. We should see some wind around 10 a.m. and a little bit of rain. The high temperature is forecast to hit 50 degrees.
