Genoa, Nev. — Western Nevada’s river basins snow-water equivalent are running a bit above average for the year, with the Carson at 108 percent, the Walker at 104 and Truckee at 127 percent. Those are fairly good numbers for this time of year, though soil moisture is running 71 percent in the Carson River Basin. The Walker is at 99 percent.

I managed to get into the TV reporter’s spot on the delivery of around 200 teddy bears to Carson Valley Health by Valage Senior Living, the Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada. I believe it aired on Channel 4 with my back occupying too much of the foreground.

Roy Nisja and I had a lovely conversation in front of the Bear House at 1366 Chichester in Chichester Estates. This is the 45th Christmas the Nisja’s have had the display, which moved to Gardnerville in 2018. He said Santa will be out 6 p.m. Saturday and on Christmas Eve.

Gardnerville Ranchos residents Karen and Steve Stage were first in with a photo of their display at 1409 Marlette Circle. They are also competing in the Grill Next Door’s lighting contest. I’m publishing addresses on Saturday, so keep them coming through lunchtime Thursday.

We’re looking at mostly sunny skies and a high temperature of 59 degrees today, according to the forecast. We might be in for a wet Christmas this year, though it will be white somewhere in the county.
