March is National Women in History Month.

The Douglas County Historical Society will be celebrating in March by recognizing women alive or deceased who have lived in Douglas County and who have made a historical contribution to Douglas County.

The Douglas County Historical Society is asking members of the community to participate by nominating women they feel deserve the recognition.

The event is titled “Women in History Remembering Project,” and the purpose is to preserve the history these special women have made in our community.

All information will be archived in the Vansickle Research Library at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center and the Nevada Women’s History Project in Reno.

Nomination packets will be available as of Jan. 2, 2025, at the Carson Valley Museum front desk or online at (www.historicnv.org)

The deadline for submitting your nominee is 4 p.m. Feb. 21, 2025.

A program and reception to honor these women will be held 2 p.m. March 22, 2025, at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center. The histories will be shared, and light refreshments will be served.

The public is invited free of charge. Doors open at 1 p.m. and the program begins 2 p.m.
