Several kindergarteners lost teeth just in time to sing “All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth” for the Gardnerville Elementary School Winter Wonderland concert on Dec. 19.
Music teacher Heather Kuenhner said the concert was organized by the school choir, which is made up of fourth- and fifth-grade students.
“They organized the whole event themselves,” Kuenhner said. “We have some dedicated students and incredible leadership here.”
Gardnerville Elementary School Principal Marcy Guthrie said music and art is offered during the school year, switching off each semester.
“Last year we had art first, so during this time of year we held an art show,” Guthrie said. “This year we had music first, so were able to hold a concert.”
During the concert each grade performed holiday songs including “Jingle Bells,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “It’s beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas,” and more.
After kindergarten through third grade performed, the fourth and fifth graders joined together and encouraged the audience to sing along with them.
Students took turns conducting while a full house sang “Feliz Navidad,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” and “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.”
Later, the Grinch joined the choir to perform his song, “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch,” while another student beat boxed.
Students thanked the audience for coming.
“We’re not just singing, we are coming together,” said the students. “Let’s fill the holiday cheer and celebrate the winter Wonderland together.”
