The Tiger boys wrestling team will have this week to finish up preparations for the Class 5A regional wrestling meet.
The regional tournament will be held at Spanish Springs and will begin Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
In order to qualify for state, each wrestler must finish in the top six of their respective weight bracket.
Tiger boys outmatched by Spanish Springs
The Douglas High School boys basketball team scored 20 points in the opening quarter Friday night at Spanish Springs.
However, the Tigers managed just 18 points over the final three quarters, falling to the Cougars, 56-38.
Trace Estes led the way with 17 points on 7-of-17 shooting while grabbing seven rebounds and swiping four steals.
Jett Lehmann added 12 points for the Tigers in the loss.
UP NEXT: Douglas (7-17, 6-8) took on Damonte Ranch (21-3, 13-1) Tuesday in Minden before welcoming rival Carson (4-19, 0-14) to town Friday night.
As of Monday, the Tigers were a half-game behind Bishop Manogue for the No. 5 seed in the Class 4A North.
Douglas girls hoops lose to the Cougars in Sparks
The Douglas High girls basketball team’s grip on the No. 2 seed in the Northern 4A slipped a bit over the weekend as the Tigers lost to Spanish Springs, 41-31.
After the loss, the Tigers are 11-3 in league play while Spanish Springs and Damonte Ranch sit with 10-4 league records.
UP NEXT: Douglas entered the final week of the regular season with a home game Tuesday against Damonte Ranch. Friday, the Tigers are back at home to take on rival Carson (8-15, 3-11), starting at 5:15 p.m.
Falcon basketball splits doubleheader with Battle Mountain
The Sierra Lutheran girls basketball team took down Battle Mountain, 33-30, last weekend.
The girls are 8-8 overall and in Class 2A North league play.
Sierra Lutheran boys lost to Battle Mountain, 82-59.
The boys are currently 7-16 with a 3-13 record in Class 2A North league play.
Statistics for both games were unavailable.
UP NEXT: The Falcons will play at Coral Academy in Reno on Friday before ending the regular season at home Saturday against Oasis Academy.
