High Sierra Fly Casters are holding a Fly Tying Workshop in the evenings starting 6-8 p.m. Thursday in Gardnerville. Open to all interested in fly tying. Accompanied youth participation welcome.

The purpose of the workshop is to make our collected fly tying knowledge available to interested people. The target participants are those who want to move beyond beginner or intermediate levels. Also, for those who have a problem tying a particular pattern and need some mentoring help.  The general idea is for Carson Valley fly tyers to share skills and knowledge of fly tying in the workshop.

It is not beginner tying class, or a class at all, in the future we may have an occasional presentation of something fly tying related, suggestions are welcome. The workshop’s follow up sessions can change as the participants desire.  We have arranged for three initial evening sessions to see how it goes. Participants should bring their vice, tools, materials, and a desired fly pattern and be prepared to share knowledge.

The first session is in the Douglas County Community and Senior Center, Ceramics Room. Follow-on sessions are planned for March 21 and April 18.
