Public feedback on Douglas County’s proposed strategic plan has been extended to Friday. Email CommunityRelationsPIO@douglasnv.us to comment on the plan, which can be found here.
On March 1, the county commissioners will hold a special meeting to review and discuss public feedback on the strategic plan. The meeting is open to the public, and the community is encouraged to attend. Public comments about the plan may be made during the public-comment portion of the meeting. The meeting takes place at 10 a.m. at the Douglas County Courthouse in Minden, 1616 8th St., Minden.
The county is encouraging the public to give further feedback on the draft plan, which they can do until the new extended deadline of Feb. 23. Public feedback can be emailed to CommunityRelationsPIO@douglasnv.us.
At the January 18 meeting, commissioners directed county staff to publish a draft of the plan for one month for public review and comment, and to schedule a special meeting to review all of the feedback collected.
The draft strategic plan identifies the following areas of focus for the county: Balanced Growth & Infrastructure, Preserving Douglas County’s Natural Beauty and Rural Character, Serving Our Community, and Enhancing Residents’ Quality of Life. Within those four strategic objectives, the plan outlines specific goals and draft initiatives that will serve as a roadmap for resource allocation and decision-making for county leadership for the future during the next five years. It is designed to evolve over time in response to the changing needs of the organization and the community.
