Genoa, Nev. — A blizzard warning has been issued for Lake Tahoe, Markleeville and pretty much all of the Sierra 10 a.m. Thursday through 10 a.m. Sunday. A winter storm watch starts 10 p.m. Thursday for Carson Valley and the rest of Western Nevada. A high wind warning has been issued starting 7 a.m. Thursday.

Saturday’s celebration of Genoa native Bill Brooks at the Genoa Town Hall has been postponed due to what could be a big storm that day. Town Manager Jody Brunz said she’s not sure about the forecast, but felt it was better to delay the event than take the chance.

There are a couple of other events scheduled for Saturday that I haven’t heard from. I’m happy to let folks know if you let me know whether you’re pressing forward.

The R-C is closed today due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control. If you didn’t get your newspaper this morning, please don’t hesitate to call circulation at 775-882-2111.

We’re having trouble catching a break as recordcourier.com was down most of the night until just after 8 a.m. today. I have no idea what was up with that.

I got a letter late Tuesday from Welcome All Veterans Everywhere saying they were ending all operations as of March 31 after a decade. We’ll the publish the letter as soon as we get a break on that front.

Alpine pile burners are going to use the break in the weather today to get some work done west of Markleeville. I anticipate that the Tahoe Fire & Fuels Team will be doing the same thing today along Kingsbury, the East Shore and Spooner.

The Weather Service is not backing off the snow forecast … at all, predicting more than a foot of snow in Minden between 7 a.m. Friday and early Sunday morning. The brunt of the storm shouldn’t arrive in Carson Valley until Friday’s evening commute time.

Today is forecast for sunny skies, a high temperature near 58 degrees with the wind out of southwest 5-10 mph this afternoon.
