Genoa, Nev. — As predicted, winds are already gusting to 30 mph, with Minden-Tahoe Airport recording a 36 mph gust at 3:30 a.m. and continuing in the 30s since. Gusts of 50 mph or more are forecast 1-6 p.m., so prepare for a bumpy commute. The high wind warning kicks off at 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. today.

It doesn’t look like today will see a lot of precipitation before 4 p.m., which means the commute shouldn’t be too slick across the Western Nevada valleys. The blizzard warning for Lake Tahoe starts at 10 a.m. The winter storm warning for Carson Valley starts 10 p.m.

Reality Check: Keep in mind the weather doesn’t own a clock and couldn’t read it if it did. All this might arrive as predicted or shred itself over the Sierra.

The R-C will be open sporadically today and Friday, since we’re down to one staffer and the schedule will literally be up in the air, along with tarps, shingles, patio furniture, small livestock, etc.

One person was taken for treatment and residents of an Indian Hills home won’t be able to use their front door after a vehicle hit the front of the house on Vista Park Drive around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

East Fork firefighters responded to an electrical fire at the Raley’s 1:40 p.m. Wednesday. It didn’t sound serious, but they had to call the electro-magician to come take a look.

Around .15 inches of rain is predicted likely after 4 p.m. with a snow level of 6,300 feet and a high near 52 degrees, which we’ll probably hit this morning. Snow level is forecast to drop to 5,500 feet around 10 and then 4,700 feet after midnight.
