Genoa, Nev. — East Fork medics were called to the Topsy WalMart at 4:45 p.m. Thursday after deputies working a case reported possibly being exposed to fentanyl. I got word this morning that everyone is OK and there was no need for Narcan. 


We have a race for East Fork Justice of the Peace after Sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff Schemenauer filed on Thursday, according to the Douglas County Clerk-Treasurer’s Office. Former Douglas prosecutor Laurie Trotter filed on Tuesday. Filing will be open through next week.


Tahoe resident Wes Rice is the new chairman of the Douglas County Board of Commissioners, with Sharla Hales serving as vice chairwoman.


A pedestrian was taken for medical treatment after being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of the Johnson Lane General Store around lunchtime on Thursday.


I got word yesterday that the Genoa Town Board will keep the search for a new manager in-house. Trying something different was likely a good idea after going through three managers in three years.


The traffic camera at Kingsbury Grade shows almost no ice or snow on the road and vehicles are traveling over Daggett Summit easily. You might find some issues if you head out into the deserts, but the roads are clear of any controls in Western Nevada.


That might not be the case on Saturday, when a winter storm is forecast to bring snow down to the Valley floor. If you’re going over the Sierra be prepared for misadventure.


Today is forecast to be sunny with a high temperature around 43 degrees and a light breeze out of the southwest at 5 mph. Snow’s not supposed to arrive before 10 a.m. Saturday. The certainty in the forecast is for winds of up to 40 mph at times with 1-2 inches of snow possible. The storm is predicted to clear out by 10 p.m. leaving frigid temperatures in its wake.
